File of the week

STOCKTON, California – 2011

This week’s feature file comes in the form of a short story I wrote in 2011. It’s a personal look at a corner of the world from the vantage of a 17 year old. I can’t recall much of my thought process, at least not accurately, to be able to confidently share what was going through my mind as I wrote it then. In this case, time is as reliable as the waves on a shore in the way it washes away and otherwise [opposite of buff] the rearview mirror into what I thought when. Any attempt to go back 16 years, almost an entire lifetime at the time this was written, and accurately depict my process would be a combination of reasonable, educational, and time-warped guesswork that ultimately may or may not be true. What I can isolate and know to be true, is I wrote this from the heart.
